REINHARDT JOINS NMU CENTER FOR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—Martin Reinhardt will join Northern Michigan University’s Center for Native American Studies as an assistant professor beginning with the fall 2010 semester. He previously served as the director of the center from 2001-05 and now returns as the first tenure-track faculty member in Native American studies.

Reinhardt’s areas of specialization include American Indian education and leadership. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in sociology. During the fall semester, he will teach two courses: the Native American experience; and Michigan and Wisconsin tribes, treaties and current issues.

Reinhardt is Anishinaabe Ojibway, a citizen of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He lives in Gwinn, Mich., with his wife, Tina, and daughters, Nim and Daabii. He enjoys singing, dancing, creative writing and warrior games.
